Suunto changed the charger between generations. The Race 2 and Vertical 2 use a different lead from the one that fits the first-generation Race, Race S, Vertical, Ocean and 9 Peak Pro. They look similar and they are not interchangeable.

A flat magnetic puck with two gold contact pins, three magnets to hold the watch square, and a lead long enough to reach from a bedside socket. It doubles as your Suunto Vertical 2 charger — the two watches share the same contacts.
Choose your plug when you order:
Same puck, same lead, different end. Pick the one that matches what you actually plug into, and if you are not sure, USB-A is still the safer bet on older gear.
Most people who buy this already own a working charger. They buy a second because the first one lives somewhere inconvenient.
One at home, one in the bag. A Race 2 goes about a week between charges, which is exactly long enough to be caught out by a trip.
One at the desk. A watch charges while you work, and the overnight charge stops being a thing you have to remember.
And one because the first one went missing, which is the most common reason anybody buys a charging lead for anything.
A watch draws what it draws. This lead carries the same two contacts as the one in the box, so the charge time is the charge time — a bigger wall plug will not make it faster, and this lead will not make it slower.
There is no data connection. Two pins is power only. Syncing happens over Bluetooth, as it always did, so nothing changes about how the watch talks to your phone.
Suunto’s own support notes that the magnet strength differs between generations, and that an older Suunto 9 Peak lead should not be used on a 9 Peak Pro — the watch will refuse it and show a charging error.
We mention this because it is the reason “it looks the same” is not good enough on Suunto watches. Getting the generation right matters more on this brand than on most, which is why the table above is the first thing on this page rather than the last.
