A garmin fenix 1 charger is one of those parts that outlives the shop that sold it. The watch was built in 2012, it is still going, and the thing that finally stops it working is almost never the watch — it is a fourteen-year-old cable with tired contacts.
Garmin changed the charging design more than once, and the difference is obvious once you know what you are looking at.
The fēnix 1 charges through a clip. Four sprung pins sit in a plastic cradle that clamps around the body of the watch, gripping it from both sides. There is no magnet and nothing that snaps on. If you turn the watch over and see four small contacts in a recess with the cradle gripping the case edges, this garmin fenix 1 charger is the right part.
Later fēnix generations moved to a flat four-pin connector that sits against the back of the case rather than clamping it. Those take a different cable entirely from a garmin fenix 1 charger, and we stock that one too — if the back of your watch is smooth and the charger touches rather than grips, you are on the wrong page and we would rather tell you now.
The cradle design is mechanically sound and it has one predictable weakness. The pins are sprung, and after a decade of being clipped on and pulled off, the springs lose tension and the contacts oxidise. The symptom is a watch that charges intermittently, or only when the garmin fenix 1 charging cable is held at a particular angle.
Before you replace anything, clean both sets of contacts. A dry cotton bud on the four pins in the cradle and on the four pads on the watch will bring back a surprising number of cables that seemed dead. If it charges reliably afterwards, you have saved thirty dollars.
If it does not, the cradle is the part to replace rather than the watch. A garmin fenix 1 charger costs a fraction of what a fourteen-year-old GPS watch is worth to somebody still using it.
A garmin fenix 1 charger from us is a replacement cradle, not an upgrade. It charges at the rate the fēnix 1 was designed to accept, which is modest by current standards and entirely appropriate for a battery of that size and age.
USB-A at the other end, so a charger for garmin fenix 1 runs from a laptop, a wall plug, a power bank or a car socket. Nothing about a garmin fenix 1 charger needs a fast charger, and using one will not shorten the charge time.
A garmin fenix 1 charging cable is a low-volume part for a discontinued watch, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We stock it because people still own these watches and the alternative is a landfill entry for a device that still works perfectly well.
If you are not certain which generation you have, send us a photograph of the back of the case before ordering a garmin fenix 1 charging cable. We will tell you which cable you need, including if it is not this one — we would rather lose the sale than process a return.

How to confirm it is yours. Turn the watch over. The fēnix 1 has four small contact pads in a shallow recess, and the charger is a plastic cradle with four sprung pins that clamps around the body of the watch from both sides. If your charger snaps on magnetically, or touches the back flat without gripping the case, you have a later generation and need a different cable.
Charges from: any USB-A port — a laptop, a wall plug, a power bank or a car charger. No fast charger is needed and using one will not charge the watch any quicker.
If you have a later fēnix. Garmin moved to a flat four-pin connector on the newer models, and we stock that cable separately. Send us a photograph of the back of your watch if you are unsure and we will tell you which one you need, including if it is not one of ours.
