KUULAA MFi Certified Lightning Cable – Liquid Silicone, 2.4A

$14.95 Inc GST

  • MFi certified — carries the chip iPhones check for, so it will not throw the “accessory may not be supported” warning or stop working after an iOS update
  • Liquid silicone jacket — stays soft and returns to shape, so it survives the flexing at the connector neck that kills PVC and frays braid
  • 4A charging, the standard Lightning rate, with overheat, overcharge and short-circuit protection
  • Fits every Lightning device — iPhone 5 through 14 and SE, iPad, iPod, AirPods cases, Magic Keyboard, Mouse and Trackpad

Description

A lightning cable is the accessory an iPhone owner replaces most often, and the one where the cheap option costs the most. This is a KUULAA cable, MFi certified, in liquid silicone — which addresses both the reason cheap ones fail and the reason cheap ones stop working after an update.

What MFi certification actually means

MFi stands for Made for iPhone, iPad and iPod. It is Apple’s licensing program, and a certified lightning cable carries a chip the phone checks for and recognises.

The practical consequence: an uncertified cable can throw the “This accessory may not be supported” warning, charge intermittently, or stop working entirely after an iOS update, because the phone is entitled to refuse it. A mfi certified lightning cable does not have that problem — it is the same handshake Apple’s own cables use.

That is what a mfi certified lightning cable is worth paying for. Not build quality, not speed — the certainty that it will still work next year.

Liquid silicone, and why the jacket matters

Every cable of this kind fails in the same place: the neck of the connector, where the lead bends every time it is plugged in, pocketed or pulled out by the cord. PVC goes stiff and splits there. Braided nylon frays.

Liquid silicone stays soft and returns to shape, so it flexes at the neck thousands of times without the memory kinks that eventually break the conductors. A mfi certified lightning cable in this jacket also does not tangle, and it wipes clean rather than going grey in a bag.

2.4A, and honest about what that means

This lightning cable carries up to 2.4 amps, which is the standard rate for Lightning charging and what almost every iPhone will draw from a standard charger. It is a solid, correct specification.

What it is not is a fast-charge cable in the modern sense. iPhone fast charging runs over USB-C to Lightning with a Power Delivery charger — a different cable and a different brick. If you want an iPhone to go from flat to half in half an hour, that is the combination you need, and we stock it. If you want a reliable everyday cable for the bedside, the car and the desk, this is that.

We would rather tell you which one you are buying than let the word “fast” do the work.

Which devices it fits

Every device with a Lightning port: iPhone 5 through iPhone 14 and the SE models, iPad and iPad mini with Lightning, iPod Touch, AirPods charging cases with a Lightning port, and Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.

iPhone 15 and later use USB-C, not Lightning. If your phone charges with the same connector as a modern Android, you want a USB-C cable instead — ask us rather than finding out at home.

Still worth buying, even now

Lightning is being phased out, which makes people hesitate before buying another one. It should not. There are years of iPhones still in daily use, every one of them needs a mfi certified lightning cable eventually, and the accessories — keyboards, mice, older AirPods cases — will outlast the phones.

Buying a good iphone charger cable now is buying the last one you need for that device.

Compatibility

Fits every device with a Lightning port:

  • iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, SE (1st gen), 6, 6s, 7, 8, X, XR, XS, 11, 12, 13, 14, SE (2nd and 3rd gen)
  • iPad, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad Pro models with a Lightning port
  • iPod Touch (5th generation and later) and iPod nano (7th generation)
  • AirPods and AirPods Pro charging cases with a Lightning port
  • Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad

iPhone 15 and later use USB-C, not Lightning. If your phone charges with the same connector as a modern Android, you need a USB-C cable — ask us and we will confirm before you order.
